Biography of Kayo YAMAGUCHI

Portrait of Kayo YAMAGUCHI1899 - Japanese painter Kayo YAMAGUCHI was born in Kyoto Prefecture.
1912 - Became a pupil of Goun Nishimura.
1916 - Entered the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting (now Kyoto City University of Arts). Awarded his first prize at the 10th Bunten Exhibition.
1919 - Entered the Chikujokai, the private school of Seiho TAKEUCHI.
1926 - Appointed to a teacher at the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting.
1927 - Won the Special Award at the 8th Teiten Exhibition.
1928 - Won the Special Award at the 9th Teiten Exhibition.
1938 - Established the Shinchousha, his private school.
1942 - Became Professor of the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting.
1950 - Appointed to the Councilor of the Nitten.
1956 - Awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize.
1971 - Appointed to the member of The Japan Art Academy.
1980 - Selected to the Person of Cultural Merits.
1981 - Given the Order of Culture.
1984 - Kayo YAMAGUCHI passed away at the age of 84.
