Biography of Chikkyo ONO

1889 - Japanese painter Chikkyo ONO was born in Okayama Prefecture. His true name is Eikichi.
1903 - Became a pupil of Seiho TAKEUCHI.
1909 - Entered the Kyoto City University of Arts.
1916 - Exhibited at the 10th Bunten Exhibition, and won the Special Award.
1918 - Established the Kokugasousakukyoukai with Bakusen TSUCHIDA and others.
1921 - Travel to Europe with Bakusen TSUCHIDA.
1936 - Appointed to the Judge of the Shin-bunten.
1947 - Appointed to the member of The Japan Art Academy.
1938 - Took office as the standing director of the Nitten.
1968 - Selected to the Person of Cultural Merits.
1976 - Given the Order of Culture.
1979 - Chikkyo ONO passed away at the age of 89.
